چکیده

A preembedding immunoperoxidase method was used to study the distribution of the GluR2/3 and GluR4 AMPA subunits of the ionotropic glutamate receptors in the peripheral vestibular epithelium of the hatched chicken. At the light microscopic level, a strong immunoreactivity for both subunits was observed around type I hair cells in the cristae ampullares. At ultrastructural level, immunoreaction product was accumulated in calyx-type profiles of vestibular ganglion afferent fibres closely attached to type I hair cells. Occasionally, bouton-type endings supposedly on type II hair cells were immunostained for GluR4. These observations, together with the electrophysiological evidence, suggest that GluR2/3 and GluR4 subunits play a role in the transmission of vestibular sensory information during early development of the chicken.

Distribution of AMPA-type glutamate receptor subunits in the chick visual system.

Several glutamate receptor (GluR) subunits have been characterized during the past few years. In the present study, subunit-specific antisera were used to determine the distribution of the AMPA-type glutamate receptor subunits GluR1-4 in retinorecipient areas of the chick brain. Six white leghorn chicks (Gallus gallus, 7-15 days old, unknown sex) were deeply anesthesized and perfused with 4% bu...

Cellular, subcellular, and subsynaptic distribution of AMPA-type glutamate receptor subunits in the neostriatum of the rat.

Glutamate released in the basal ganglia is involved in the expression of clinical symptoms of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's or Huntington's. Neostriatal neurons are the targets of glutamatergic inputs derived from the cortex and the thalamus acting via AMPA-type as well as other glutamate receptors. To determine the location of subunits of the AMPA subclass of glutamate receptors ...

Immunocytochemical characterization of AMPA-selective glutamate receptor subunits: laminar and compartmental distribution in macaque striate cortex.

Subunit proteins that comprise functional AMPA receptors were localized by immunocytochemical methods in the adult macaque primary visual cortex (V1). GluR1, GluR2/3/4c, and GluR4 immunoreactivity consisted of rich plexuses of punctate profiles scattered throughout the neuropil, in radial arrays, and outlining the membrane of somata and proximal dendrites. Cytoplasmic immunoreactivity was limit...

Distribution of the excitatory amino acid receptor subunits GluR2(4) in monkey hippocampus and colocalization with subunits GluR5-7 and NMDAR1.

Ionotropic excitatory amino acid (EAA) receptors are divided pharmacologically into three categories termed NMDA, AMPA/kainate, and high affinity kainate receptors. Each of these receptor subtypes is composed of a specific subset of subunits termed GluR1-4 (AMPA/kainate), GluR5-7, KA1-2 (high affinity kainate), and NMDAR1, 2 A-D (NMDA). Although colocalization of NMDA and non-NMDA receptors has...

تاثیر محرومیت از بینایی طی دوره بحرانی تکامل مغز بر بیان زیرواحدهای گیرنده AMPA در هیپوکامپ موش صحرایی

Background: Environmental signals have an essential role in the maturation of neural circuits during critical period of brain development. It has been shown that, change in visual signals during critical period of brain development changes structure and function of glutamate receptors in the visual cortex. After processing in visual cortex, part of visual signals goes to the hippocampus and mak...
